CLINICAL EXPLANATION

What is a forehead lift (brow lift)?

A forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that rejuvenates the upper third of the face by elevating sagging brows and smoothing the forehead muscles.

Our surgical philosophy prioritizes the endoscopic approach. Using micro-cameras and specialized fine instruments, we reposition the forehead muscles and tissue through tiny incisions hidden entirely within the scalp. This avoids the traditional ear-to-ear coronal incision used in the past, substantially reducing bleeding, postoperative pain, and recovery time.

The goal is to naturally open up and refresh a heavy, hooded brow area, reducing frown lines and restoring a rested, youthful expression.

What it improves

  • Position and arch of sagging or heavy brows
  • Smoothing of horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
  • Reduction of the hooded appearance over the upper eyelids

What it doesn't change

  • Excess skin on the eyelids (requires blepharoplasty)
  • Fine dynamic wrinkles on the sides of the eyes (crow's feet)
  • Skin elasticity on the cheeks or jawline
FOREHEAD REJUVENATION

What does the plan typically include?

A forehead lift is tailored to your specific aesthetic needs:

Endoscopic Technique

Minimally invasive lift

Muscle repositioning through 3 to 5 small, millimeter-sized incisions hidden behind the hairline, utilizing high-resolution micro-camera instruments.

Brow Elevation

Arch repositioning

Releasing orbital tissue and securing the brows at an anatomically youthful position, restoring brightness and openness to the eyes.

Muscle Smoothing

Frown line reduction

Modification of the corrugator muscles responsible for vertical frown lines, achieving a permanently more relaxed and friendly expression.

* Frequently performed in conjunction with a blepharoplasty for a complete periorbital (eye area) rejuvenation.

You may be a candidate if...

  • Your eyebrows are in a low, tired position or hood the outer corners of your eyes.
  • You have prominent horizontal expression lines on your forehead or deep furrows between your brows (frown lines).
  • Your forehead looks tired, angry, or aged, and you seek a longer-lasting solution than botulinum toxin.
  • You are in good general health and have realistic rejuvenation expectations.

It is advisable to evaluate alternatives if...

  • Your wrinkles are mild or dynamic and respond excellently to regular in-office botulinum toxin treatments (non-surgical).
  • The primary concern is excess skin on the upper eyelids without sagging brows (in this case, an upper blepharoplasty is recommended).
  • You have an extremely high hairline or severe frontal hair loss, which requires a customized surgical design to avoid raising the hairline further.
DIAGNOSTIC PHASE

How we define your plan

An individualized clinical evaluation is essential. We analyze your forehead height, the position of your eyebrows relative to the orbital bone ridge, and the function of the forehead muscles to design a proportional lift.

"We avoid the surprised look. We reposition the tissues to their original anatomical place to restore naturalness and light to the face."
Forehead Height Measurement

We evaluate the distance from the hairline to the eyebrows to prevent the brow lift from making the forehead appear disproportionately long.

Elevation Vector Simulation

We determine whether to lift the middle or the outer portion of the brow (brow tail) to achieve a natural arch.

Upper Eyelid Evaluation

We evaluate the synergy with the upper eyelids to confirm if a complementary blepharoplasty during the same procedure is beneficial.

SURGICAL FACILITY

The procedure, explained simply

IncisionsMinimal & Hidden

Small 1.5 cm incisions behind the hairline, completely hidden and imperceptible once healed.

CameraEndoscopy

We use a high-definition micro-camera to guide the tissue elevation without the need for large skin incisions.

AnesthesiaGeneral / Sedation

Performed under general anesthesia or deep sedation in a hospital operating room for maximum safety.

StayOutpatient

Outpatient procedure; you return to your hotel or home the same day after a few hours of observation.

PREOPERATIVE

Preparing for your surgery

Responsible preparation is essential to optimize surgical safety and facilitate a smooth, comfortable postoperative recovery.

01
Clinical Lab WorkPreoperative blood tests and an electrocardiogram (EKG) to assess your general health.
02
Stopping Smoking & MedicationsYou must completely stop smoking and discontinue blood thinners, aspirin, and specific vitamin supplements as directed.
03
Special Hair WashYou will be instructed to wash your hair with a special antiseptic soap the night before and the morning of surgery.
POSTOPERATIVE

Recovery timeline

Since it does not require extensive skin excision, recovery from the endoscopic technique is faster and more comfortable compared to conventional methods.

Days 1 to 3 — Dressing and rest

A soft dressing is worn around the head to manage initial forehead swelling. Mild swelling on the forehead and around the eyelids is normal.

Days 7 to 10 — Suture / Staple removal

Staples or sutures are removed from the scalp during an in-office visit. Forehead swelling begins to subside noticeably.

Week 2 — Return to work

Bruising and swelling decrease significantly. Patients typically return to office work or school, strictly applying sun protection.

Month 1 onward — Final results

The forehead and brows settle into their definitive new position as residual internal swelling completely subsides.

ETHICAL COMMITMENT

Surgical safety and realistic expectations

Like any facial surgery, a forehead lift requires an ethical clinical analysis. During your medical consultation, we review your medical history, forehead height, skin elasticity, and brow symmetry to reduce risks and confirm if the surgery is appropriate for you.

An in-person clinical evaluation is the only way to define the anatomical viability of your aesthetic goals.

Temporary NumbnessIt is normal to experience a temporary loss of sensation or numbness in the scalp, which resolves over several months.
Pre-existing AsymmetriesEvery patient's brows and forehead are naturally asymmetrical. Surgery aims to improve symmetry, not mathematical perfection.
Scalp HealingHair growth around the incision sites may take several weeks to return to normal.
Initial OvercorrectionBrows may initially appear higher than planned due to swelling and tension, settling into place after a few weeks.

FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY

Cost of a forehead lift: what determines the price

The cost of a forehead or brow lift should not be defined generically or without a prior medical evaluation. Each surgical quote is individualized and corresponds to the specifics of your case.

During your surgical evaluation, Dr. Uriel Muñoz will assess your anatomy and define a tailored surgical plan. The final cost of the procedure is determined based on the following factors:

  • Complexity of the elevation and the planned anatomical vector.
  • Use of endoscopic micro-camera technology and instrumentation.
  • Operating room fees at a safe hospital facility.
  • Fees of the surgical team and the anesthesiologist.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about forehead lift

A forehead lift (brow lift) elevates the upper third of the face (forehead and brows) to correct sagging or heavy eyebrows and smooth horizontal forehead wrinkles. Blepharoplasty specifically treats the upper and lower eyelids (removing excess skin and fat bags). They are frequently performed together for comprehensive rejuvenation of the eye area.
No. In an endoscopic forehead lift, small incisions (1 to 2 cm) are made behind the hairline within the scalp, meaning they are completely hidden and camouflaged once healed.
The results of a structural forehead lift typically last between 7 and 10 years, depending on genetics, skin type, and the patient's individual aging process. While gravity will continue to affect the tissues, the starting point will always remain more youthful.
No. Dr. Uriel Muñoz's goal is to reposition the eyebrows to a natural height that is anatomically appropriate for your bone structure. We avoid overcorrection or excessive pulling that produces a 'surprised' or constantly startled look.
Most patients return to office work or school within 7 to 10 days after surgery. High-impact physical exercise should be avoided for the first 3 to 4 weeks.
