What is a neck lift?
The neck lift, also called cervicoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to correct advanced signs of aging in the neck: sagging skin, vertical bands and loss of the angle between the jaw and neck.
In contrast to superficial treatments or liposuction alone, this surgery acts at the structural level, repositioning tissues and removing excess skin when elasticity is no longer sufficient.
Neck lift: what changes and what doesn't change
Neck lift improves cervical firmness, contour and definition, restoring a more rested and harmonious appearance.
It does not stop aging or transform the bone anatomy; its objective is to restore, not to exaggerate or “stretch”.
What does a neck lift usually include?
Depending on the anatomy and the degree of aging, the procedure may include:
Internal muscle tightening
Correction of vertical bands by adjustment of the neck muscle.
Localized fat removal
Removal of fatty deposits that erase the cervical contour.
Resection of flaccid skin
Reduction of excess skin for a firmer neck.
Discrete incisions
Planned to be hidden around the ear and under the chin.
The exact scope is defined in appraisal; not all necks require the same thing or the same level of intervention.
Who is it for?
It could be for you if...
Notes hanging skin or marked loss of firmness in the neck.
Presentas vertical strips visible when speaking or gesturing.
Lipopapping or non-surgical treatments no longer offer improvement.
You are looking for a long-lasting and structural result.
Alternatives should be evaluated if...
The problem is only fat with good skin elasticity.
You cannot have the minimum initial recovery time.
There are medical conditions that require prior stabilization.
Neck lift assessment: how we define your plan
Objective and priorities
What do you want to improve, what are your concerns and what change would be proportional and natural for your face.
Facial analysis
=Relationship between your features (proportions and harmony). It is not an isolated area that is evaluated, but the whole.
Anatomy and tissue quality
Skin type, structural support, volume and factors influencing evolution and healing.
Recommended range
What should be adjusted, what should be kept and what limits exist to maintain naturalness and safety.
Surgical plan and logistics
Location (Puerto Vallarta or Tepic), type of anesthesia, control times and specific steps before and after the procedure.
“A clear plan, with aligned expectations, defined next steps and space to resolve doubts.”

The procedure, explained in simple terms
It is performed through discrete and planned incisions.
The internal muscles of the neck are tightened to provide support.
Fat and excess skin is removed when indicated.
The objective is to recover the cervicomental angle and a clean transition to the jaw.
Preparation (before surgery)
- Suspend tobacco and alcohol during the indicated period.
- Adjust medications according to clinical history.
- Perform requested preoperative studies.
- Organize escort and postoperative logistics.
Recovery and follow-up
First days
Inflammation, use of bandage or chin support and relative rest.
First 2 weeks
Suture removal, decreased bruising and gradual return to light activities.
Medium term
The tissues settle and the neck acquires its definitive contour.
The medical follow-up allows to adjust care and resolve doubts as the patient's evolution progresses.
Risks and considerations
The neck lift is a safe surgery when it is well indicated and performed in a hospital environment. Like any surgical procedure, it may present prolonged swelling, bruising, temporary changes in sensibility or scars that require monitoring.
These points are explained individually during the consultation in order to make informed decisions.
