What is it?
The arm lift is a surgery that reduces excess skin and improves the shape of the arm when flaccidity is noticeable, marked by clothing or uncomfortable when you move.
It is not the same as “lipo only”. If the main problem is skin (and not only fat), lipo alone may not give the change you expect. In the evaluation we define which component is the most important in your case.
Arm lifts: what changes and what doesn't change
What changes
Arm contouring: the line is redefined and “hanging” is reduced.
Excess skin: corrected when it is the main factor.
Arm-axilla ratio: improves transition in selected cases.
How it looks with clothing: usually improves fit and shape.
What remains unchanged
It does not make the arm “athletic” without body composition changes.
It does not remove all textural irregularities or stretch marks.
It does not erase natural variations from one arm to another.
It does not prevent the body from changing if there are significant variations in weight.
What does it usually include?
It is defined in assessment according to your anatomy and type of flaccidity.
Plan design: where to adjust and how much, looking for proportion.
Localized fat management: if appropriate, it is selectively integrated.
Skin tightening: what is necessary to improve the contour is removed.
Planar closure: for an orderly and stable healing.
Follow-up: check-ups to monitor inflammation and evolution.
The extent, scar location and level of adjustment are decided only after medical evaluation.
Who is it for?
It could be for you if...
You are uncomfortable with arm flaccidity when wearing clothes or lifting your arm.
You have lost weight and excess skin remained.
You feel that the arm “hangs” and that does not change with exercise.
You are looking for a proportional and realistic change, not an extreme result.
You can arrange for rest and postoperative care.
Alternatives should be evaluated if...
Your priority is just to “mark” the arm (no skin problem of course).
There is an expectation of eliminating stretch marks or texture at 100%.
There are ongoing weight changes (frequent ups/downs).
You have no margin for postoperative care and control.
Arm lift assessment: how we define your plan
Target
What makes you uncomfortable and what would be a natural outcome for you.
Analysis
Arm proportions, symmetry and areas that actually change the contour.
Skin quality
Elasticity, firmness and how healing can evolve.
Scope
What is safe to correct, what limits are reasonable and what should be combined.
Follow-up
Controls and care to monitor inflammation and tissue evolution.
“A clear plan, with aligned expectations, defined next steps and space to resolve doubts.”
The procedure, explained in simple terms
The goal is to improve arm shape and droop without “over-operating”. Technique and scope are defined in assessment.
Marking: the actual excess and the best line of adjustment are delimited.
Skin tightening: what is necessary to improve contour is removed.
Volume management: if applicable, it is integrated to fine-tune transition.
Closure: priority is given to scar stability and good evolution.
Control: evolution and symmetry are reviewed during follow-up.
Preparation (before surgery)
- Clearly define objective (what is in your way and what do you expect to see in mirror).
- Prepare comfortable clothing that does not rub the area and facilitates the post.
- Organize in-home support for the first few days.
- Have your logistics of controls and follow-up ready.
Recovery and follow-up
First days: swelling and tenderness; comfort and gentle movement are taken care of.
First week: controls to check wound and initial evolution.
Following weeks: progressive decrease of inflammation; activities are gradually resumed.
Subsequent months: scar maturation and contour stabilization.
The medical follow-up allows to adjust care and resolve doubts as the patient's evolution progresses.
Risks and considerations
Most doubts are solved by defining the scope well and taking care of the post. In valuation your risk profile is explained without scaremongering.
Inflammation and sensitivity changes: variable per person.
Healing: it may look different depending on your skin.
Asymmetry: minimized with plan and follow-up.
Fluid collections or hematomas: general surgical risks.
Infection: it is prevented with personalized care and indications.
These points are explained individually during the appraisal.
Medical Philosophy
Medical tourism in Puerto Vallarta + coordination
If you are coming from another city or country, you can start with a virtual consultation and organize your process with the support of a patient coordinator.
What it does include:
- Flow orientation: steps, agenda and logistical recommendations.
- Support to reach assessment with clarity.
What it does not include:
Flights and direct hotel reservations (we give you the freedom to choose according to your budget).
